Teaching Tools
Human Rights, Refugees and UNHCR:
A Teacher's Guide, Brochure/Kit
There are refugees in virtually every country in the world
and they are often in the headlines. Yet the reality of refugees'
lives is frequently misunderstood. It is crucial to help
students understand this important contemporary issue. This
teaching kit was developed in 1998 to mark the 50th anniversary
of the proclamation of the Universal Declaration of Human
Rights. It was designed to help teachers prepare lessons
which demonstrate the relationship between refugee protection
and human rights. The kit includes posters and articles to
prompt class discussion as well as teaching plans for three
school levels: ages 9-11; 12-14 & 15-18.
