UNHCR Consultant, Pacific
The Regional Office of the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees in Canberra (UNHCR) is seeking to engage a Consultant to support its capacity-building work in the Pacific Island states.
The Consultant will monitor issues relevant to refugee protection in the region, undertake refugee status assessments as required, help UNHCR build partnerships with Pacific Island governments and regional bodies, and provide technical advice and training to governments on refugee practices as required.
The successful applicant will be prepared to travel extensively in the region and have a good knowledge of immigration and refugee principles, preferably in the Pacific Islands context. Proven negotiation, communication, and drafting skills in English are essential.
