World Refugee Day 2009 Events in our region

One of the strengths about World Refugee Day is the many community-based and schools events that take place all around the world on June 20. UNHCR Regional Office invites your community or school to take part this year.

UNHCR Regional Office in Canberra has copies of World Refugee Day posters and variety of other educational kits and videos for distribution free of charge. You can request these materials by emailing us on aulcapi@unhcr.org or by calling us on 612 6281 9108. Or Just complete the form and return to us.

Flags and Lighting of major buildings in Canberra

World Refugee Day flags will be flying on both sides of Commonwealth and Kings avenues from the 15th to the 27th June 2009. This is made possible with the support of ACT Government.

Also in Canberra major iconic buildings around Lake Burley Griffin will be lit in UN blue to coincide with the lighting of Jet de'eau in Geneva to mark World Refugee Day.
